MegaETH aims for 100,000 transactions per second with 1 ms block times, pushing blockchain performance to rival Web 2.0 applications. It is designed as an L2 solution that uses a massive, highly optimized sequencer but inherits Ethereum’s security and decentralization to offer a scalable solution without the usual compromises. MegaETH’s architecture allows for real-time applications like fully onchain gaming and decentralized exchanges, unlocking new possibilities. The project's ambitious goals come with significant execution risks. The public testnet is expected in Q4 2024, and the mainnet in early 2025. If successful, MegaETH could set new standards for Layer-2 scalability, forcing the rest of the ecosystem to adapt.
