Kindle Petit Color prototype features color E Ink display

DATE POSTED:August 14, 2025
Kindle Petit Color prototype features color E Ink display

A Reddit user recently posted images of what is purported to be a new Kindle device featuring a color E Ink display. This prototype, currently unconfirmed, was shared by a Portuguese-speaking Redditor and appears to be a smaller model.

One image of the device displays the name “Kindle Petit Color,” although the poster indicated this designation is not final. The Redditor stated that the screen’s color reproduction is “much better than the Colorsoft” technology. This prototype reportedly allows users to independently adjust the intensity and saturation for individual colors.

The device’s screen bezels resemble those found on Amazon’s standard black-and-white Kindle. However, the Redditor claimed the overall size of this prototype will be slightly smaller than the 11th-generation Kindle e-reader. The user interface of this prototype reportedly leverages the color E Ink screen more effectively, enabling color customization for various elements.

Specifically, users can reportedly change the colors of icons such as battery, Wi-Fi, and the shopping cart, as well as the reading progress status bar. Furthermore, the text within an ebook can be colored. This text is said to dynamically transition through four distinct shades as a reader advances through a book, providing a visual indicator of reading progress. This information, including the images and details, remains unconfirmed.
