How a CTO Merges AI, XR, and Business Solutions: Interview with Nikhil Jathar

1. What do you currently do and what’s your favorite part about it?

I’m the CTO at AvanSaber Technologies, where I lead the development of innovative solutions like StockVR, which transforms how enterprises manage inventory. My favorite part? Seeing how our work directly improves efficiency, cuts costs, and boosts profits for businesses. It's fulfilling to create tech that makes a real impact. I'm especially excited about integrating AI and extended reality (XR) into enterprise tools—pushing the limits of what’s possible in business operations. \n

2. How did you get started with your Tech Career?

It all started in my school’s computer lab when I was in 6th grade. I was hooked on computer games and wanted to understand how they were made. By 10th grade, I’d built my first game using C++, and the thrill of creating something from scratch got me hooked. From there, I taught myself web development and worked on small projects, which laid the foundation for my career. Those early experiences drove me to study computer science and eventually build a career around tech and innovation.

3. If Utopia were a color what color do you think it’d be and why?

I’d say Utopia would be a vibrant, iridescent teal. It mixes the calming blue of clear skies with the green of nature, symbolizing harmony between technology and the environment. The iridescent quality reflects diversity and adaptability—key traits of an ideal society. Teal also evokes clarity and open communication, which are essential for a balanced and thriving world.

4. If everything about HackerNoon changed drastically, what is one detail you’d like to keep exactly the same?  OR What’s your favorite thing to do with HackerNoon and why?

I love diving into HackerNoon’s wide range of tech articles. The platform offers deep, expert insights on emerging topics like AI, blockchain, and software development. It’s a great way to stay informed and connect with a community of tech enthusiasts. The mix of accessibility and depth makes it my go-to resource for staying ahead in the industry.

5. Tell us more about the things you write/make/manage/build!

At AvanSaber, I work on creating SaaS tools that solve real-world business problems. Our flagship product, StockVR, uses virtual reality to transform inventory management. I’ve also developed AI tools like AutoBotWriter, an open-source plugin for content creation. Besides building products, I write about tech trends—mainly AI, XR, and enterprise innovations—on my blog and LinkedIn. I also lead development teams to design scalable, cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency and innovation for businesses.

6. What’s your favorite thing about the internet?

The internet’s ability to democratize knowledge and opportunity is my favorite thing. It gives anyone, anywhere, the chance to learn and create, leveling the playing field in a way that wasn’t possible before. It’s also a hub for global collaboration, enabling startups like mine to reach markets worldwide. Plus, the internet fosters niche communities and sparks innovation across industries, which I find both inspiring and invaluable.

7. It’s an apocalypse of ‘walking dead’ proportions and you can only own a singular piece of technology, what would it be?

I’d choose a rugged, solar-powered satellite communication device. It would let me stay connected with others, coordinate rescue efforts, and access global information—critical for survival. The solar power ensures it works long-term without relying on fuel or the grid. It could also send distress signals or help with navigation using satellite data. In a world of chaos, staying informed and connected would be my top priority.

8. What is your least favorite thing about the internet?

The internet’s ability to rapidly spread misinformation is a huge problem. It creates echo chambers and fuels divisiveness, impacting everything from public health to democracy. I’m also concerned about privacy—our data is constantly collected and sometimes misused. Lastly, the digital divide remains a challenge, leaving some without access to the opportunities the internet offers.

9. If you were given $10 million to invest in something today what would you invest in and why?

I’d split it across a few impactful areas. AI and quantum computing would get a chunk—they’re set to revolutionize industries. I’d also invest in sustainable energy, like fusion and advanced solar tech, to address climate challenges. Another focus would be biotechnology, especially in personalized medicine and longevity research. Space technology, including satellite innovation, would be on my list too. Finally, I’d back blockchain and decentralized finance projects, given their potential to reshape the economy. This mix balances future-forward investments with societal impact.

10. What’s something you’re currently learning or excited to learn?

I’m diving into SAP AI and its applications in enterprise systems. It’s exciting because it can transform how businesses operate, from supply chain management to financial processes. I’m particularly interested in combining SAP AI with XR technologies to develop immersive, AI-driven tools. It’s a thrilling learning journey that will shape the future of the solutions we build at AvanSaber.

11. Would you rather travel 10 years into the past or 10 years into the future? Give reasons for your answer.

I’d go 10 years into the past. Knowing what I do now, I could make more informed decisions, invest in game-changing tech early, and prepare for global challenges like climate change or pandemics. It’d also give me the chance to spend more time with loved ones and create a stronger foundation for both my personal and professional life. While the future is tempting, the ability to reshape the past feels more impactful.

12. How do you feel about AI?

AI is transformative—it’s unlocking solutions to complex problems in ways we couldn’t have imagined. From healthcare to business, its potential is massive. But with that power comes responsibility. Ethical development, transparency, and inclusivity are critical to ensure AI benefits everyone. I’m passionate about using AI to drive positive change while addressing its challenges, like bias and job displacement. It’s an exciting field, and I feel privileged to contribute to its growth responsibly.
